At the moment when we are going to buy any computer hardware, whether it is the CPU, Memory, hard drive etc. one of the factor that we want to know is the speed and performance of the component. Hard disk or SSD drive is now already have a storage capacity that is so large and also the speed of writing and reading. It is also common in the storage media commonly used today, ie USB flash drive, many of us are not so caring about the speed of writing and reading a USB flash drive and only cares for its storage capacity only.
With a storage capacity of a USB flash drive that is currently on the increase, if you buy a flash drive with high capacity 64GB but its read and write speed is slow, it will take a long time to load a large file into it, not only a waste of time and money, but it can be frustrating become.
If you already bought a usb pendrive or already have a USB flash drive and want to know the performance or speed of read and write (R/W) it, here I will share the software that will help us to find out.
USBDeview
USBDeview is a portable utility software by Nirsoft that allows you to check the USB device list that are previously installed on your computer. Another feature is the option to benhmark Usb drive and the option to publish the results of speed test into Nirsoft web pages to see the comparison.

SpeedOut
SpeedOut is a small tool, simple and portable that can rapidly measure sequential read and write speed of your flash drive. The program is run tests at a low level (needs to be run as admin) that means the value is not affected by the file system drive. Simply choose your USB drive from the drop down if you have more than one USB drive, and SpeedOut will run 4 passes for both read and write tests, then displays the average value for each. Scores can be stored or copied by right-clicking on the title bar. SpeedOut will not damage files and no file is overwritten and flash drives do not need to be formatted to run the tests.
USB Flash Benchmark
This is a speed test program plain and simple for a USB flash drive that will run a full set of benchmark tests for speeds of up to 16MB 1K pieces, and displays the results in a graph.
Other software that can be used to test the speed of usb flash are the following:
- Check Flash
- CrystalDiskMark
- Flash Drive / Card Tester
